Norwich hears pastor, Policeman and tramp tale
Essex Baptist Pastor Dave McDowell has been a Policeman, fed orphans in India and lived under a boat as a tramp. He told his remarkable story at the April dinner of Norwich FGB on April 27.
Dave had a secure job as a policeman, a happy marriage, and a future. But after responding to the gospel, found himself divorced, jobless, and living as a tramp under an upturned boat on Southend beach. Then it got worse!
But after three failed suicide attempts, and a visit to an old friend, life again started to change for the better. A whole lot better.
Norwich branch president Barrie Lawrence said: “Dave is an engaging speaker, and not without humour. His story is remarkable, unique, and authentic. He is a fulfilled man who uses every opportunity to help others, both in the UK and India, and share the good news of Jesus.”
