Norwich evangelist John is first for honour

JohnWrightJune072007: Well-known Norfolk evangelist John Wright has become the first person from the Norwich Diocese to be admitted to the College of Evangelists.

John( pictured right) is a lay reader at Stoke Holy Cross church near Norwich and an international director of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International.

John was nominated by the Bishop of Norwich Graham James and was admitted as a Member of the College of Evangelists at Leicester Cathedral on Monday May 14.

Bishop Graham said: “John has a personal ministry of evangelism. He is a Reader in the Church of England but I felt he needed wider support. The College of Evangelists is a fellowship of those called to various forms of evangelistic ministry.

“I’m delighted that the College has received John. He’s the first person from the Diocese of Norwich to be recognized in this way and I hope it will be a blessing to him and to others.”

John said: “My one desire is to help churches to train their members to witness daily to everyone they meet about the transforming love of God available to them in Jesus Christ.”

The College was instituted by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York in 1999 to recognise and encourage Evangelists in the Church of England as a gift of God to the Church.
