Lighthouse Stir 19 750CF

“Building Faith” weekend at Sheringham church

More details have been released about “Stir 19”- a packed weekend of worship and teaching for the whole family taking place at Lighthouse in Sheringham next month. Guest speakers will include Paul and Priscilla Reid from Belfast and Roy Crowne from Hope Together. Tony Rothe reports.

The church’s popular Stir events, where well known Christian speakers or bands have visited the church on four Sundays throughout the last three summers, have attracted visitors from across the county. This concept has now been expanded to a whole weekend of teaching and worship for this year, which will take place over the May bank holiday weekend of May 4 and 5.

The programme will start with a bible teaching session on each of the two mornings, led by Paul and Priscilla Reid.
The Saturday afternoon seminars will be led by Dan Ward, Lighthouse Community Pastor; Nick Blanch, from Norwich Youth for Christ; and Roy Crowne, National Director of Hope Together.

The Sunday afternoon seminars will be led by Ian Savory, Lighthouse Senior Pastor; Carol Woodward, and Priscilla Reid.
The Youth for Christ TRACKS mobile recording studio will be available for young people to visit during the afternoon seminars.

Following the seminars, there will be a family picnic on the Saturday and family time on the beach on the Sunday.

The main evening celebrations will be led by Roy Crowne (Saturday) and Paul Reid (Sunday), with separate youth and children’s celebrations.

Worship will be led by the Lighthouse Worship Band.  The youth programme will be organised by Norwich Youth for Christ and the children’s programme will be led by Raise along with the Lighthouse team.

Priscilla Reid 270CFpaul Reid 270CFPaul & Priscilla Reid, right, started a small house church in 1981 that eventually became Christian Fellowship Church in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  After pioneering and leading this large church for many years, Paul and Priscilla now have a travelling ministry bringing their unique blend of solid and practical Bible teaching, prophetic insight and wisdom, brought from experience, to people around the globe, all delivered with trademark Irish wit and a tender love for God’s people.

Roy Crowne 300CFRoy Crowne, right, was National Director of Youth for Christ for 13 years, during which time he brought many new ideas to the organisation, and led many new initiatives, then formed Hope 08 (now Hope Together) with Andy Hawthorne and Mike Pilavachi in 2007 with the aim of encouraging churches to work together to proclaim the Good News of Jesus throughout the UK. They worked with the Bible Society and the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity in order to publish “The Servant Queen” to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s ninetieth birthday earlier in 2016. This described the Queen’s deep faith, with a foreword written by Her Majesty, and was the highest selling book in Britain in March that year.

“The whole idea of Stir 19 is to encourage other Christians and to build faith for our communities” explained Ian Savory from Lighthouse leadership, “This is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a great weekend of worship and teaching in North Norfolk, so get your bookings in now!”

The venues will be Lighthouse Community Church, 62 Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8RT; and St Andrews Methodist Church across the road from Lighthouse.  Refreshments will be available at both venues.

Day tickets are £12.50 per adult, £2.50 for children and youth. Weekend tickets are £20 per adults, £5 for children and youth.
