World Cup added to community concert

OakGroveLeeVaseyOak Grove Chapel’s annual community concert in Norwich takes place this Saturday, July 1, with an added attraction of England playing World Cup football against Portugal on a big screen from 4pm.

To accommodate the crucial quarter-final match, the open-air concert and fete will start at 12 noon and finish after the football.

Over the years the Community Concert sponsored by Oak Grove Chapel as part of its Community Projects has grown and grown. Part open-air concert, part fete, part fair and part festival, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Three bands will be taking part including the Lee Vasey Band, the Still time Jazz Band all the way from London and Mile Cross Salvation Army Band.

Side-shows and stalls offering face-painting, circus skills and games as well as a bouncy castle will offer entertainment and activities for all and there will be a wide range of goods, crafts and plants on sale.

The festive bit will be supplied by a variety of food outlets including a barbecue and non-alcoholic drinks as well as tea and coffee will be on sale.

Entry is free although there will be a ‘retiring collection’ to help with the cost of enhancing the building of Catton Grove School’s new hall.

The event takes place Saturday July 1 at Catton Grove First School. The entrance is on Hunter Road or (with parking) on Weston Road. Further details from 01603403388.
