The Norfolk and Norwich Christian community website

Norfolk Christian website marks tenth birthday

NetworkNorfolkTenYears4002015: The Network Norwich and Norfolk website is set to mark a decade of serving the local Christian community this year and has a number of initiatives planned to celebrate the achievement including news features, media training events and a first-ever Norfolk Christian Digital Communications Awards.

The website, which provides a news and information service for the Christian community across Norfolk, was launched in October 2005, backed by Transforming Norwich and local Christian charity Dreams & Visions.

Launch editor Keith Morris is still at the helm, now as publisher, and has been joined over the years by other team members, who now include senior content editor Helen Baldry and regional content editors Tony Rothe and Eldred Willey.

Countless volunteers have contributed articles and opinion columns to the site, which has been backed by numerous local Christian organizations, charities and churches for whom the website helps provide a vital communications channel.

Over the past ten years the site has published over 3,000 news articles, over 1,000 stories for its partner organisations and around 400 opinion columns.

It has also published hundreds of job and volunteer opportunities, church and project directory entries and adverts for local businesses and Christian organizations and thousands of diary dates.

It has also won several national Christian media awards.

Keith said: “To mark the anniversary, we will be publishing a monthly archive news column looking back at some of the biggest stories over the past ten years.

“We will also be holding a couple of training events for our supporters and readers, giving them the opportunity to learn about digital communications, writing news stories and press releases and the secrets of social media.

“To round off the year, we also plan to stage a first-ever Norfolk Christian Digital Communications Awards when we will invite entries from across the county and give all of our readers the opportunity to vote of which websites, blogs and social media channels should be recognised,” said Keith.

We will be offering a limited number of opportunities for local Christian organizations or churches to sponsor part of the awards and if you are interested, please email Keith Morris to express an interest.
