Sanctuary drop-in cafe expands Norwich role

St-Peter-MancroftCFThe Sanctuary drop-in café, which was established following the closure of the All Saints Centre, is to expand its service in Norwich city centre and is looking for a permanent new home.

The Sanctuary drop-in café has been open at St Peter Mancroft church on Wednesdays from 10.30 am to 3.30pm since November and from February it will also be opening at the Friends Meeting House in Upper Goat Lane, Norwich on Mondays.

It is run by the Sanctuary Steering Group which is keen to continue the vision and much-used service provided by All Saints.

Sanctuary Communications Secretary, Pam Uden, said: “Following the closure of All Saints a group of ex staff and volunteers got together with the express purpose of finding a way to offer a service to the vulnerable and marginalised of the city, working together “in the spirit of All Saints”.

“We are, enjoying a successful start to what we hope and pray will be a new chapter in this special story.

“In due course we will be seeking a permanent home in the city to offer the service and support we know is needed. We are now proceeding with all the necessary official procedures to operate as a Christian charity and to continue our work in the city – work that began many years ago and which is as relevant today as ever.”
